For high supply reliability: DEHN presents new surge protection for residential buildings

Irrespective of whether it’s a single- or multi-family dwelling or an old or new building, a power supply that meets the latest technical requirements and safety standards for each of these cases is important and recommended. If you are diligent during retrofitting or redesigning buildings, you will ultimately have the required reliability of supply. An essential component here is protection against surges. As the latest product of the established DEHNguard surge protection device range, DEHN – the lightning and surge protection specialist – presents the DEHNguard MP type 2 + type 3 with push-in double terminals for quicker and easier installation.

DEHNguard

The new arrester is ideal for installation in sub-distribution boards of residential buildings and is the perfect product for retrofitting existing residential buildings. The push-in technology used enables quick and easy connection of the conductors. In addition, this new, universally applicable surge arrester has a push-in double terminal, enabling feed-through wiring directly on the device. The separate feeder clamping piece that was used up until now has been done away with, thus freeing up space in the distribution board. The push-in double terminals are located on the front of the surge protective devices, which in turn facilitates simple installation and visual inspection of the wiring arrangement. This means any installation errors can be more easily prevented or quickly identified.

The DEHNguard MPs are type 2 + type 3 arresters for installation in circuit distribution boards, which also protect the terminal equipment with cable lengths shorter than ten metres. In addition to the base part, the highly compact design contains the protection modules for secure installation. Their tried-and-tested, heavy-duty zinc oxide varistors ensure a high discharge capacity. The new DEHNguard MP surge arresters are also reliably energy-coordinated with upstream type 1 arresters of the DEHN Red/Line series.

The arrester monitoring "Thermo-Dynamic-Control" and the status indication for every protective path connected with it allow for the quick and easy inspection of the functionality of the arrester. The readiness for operation of each protective path is documented through the mechanically operated, visual indication free of operating currents with a green/red colour indicator. This status indication is provided both for the line conductor paths and for the N-PE path.

All additional advantages of the recognised modular design of the DEHNguard range – such as module locking, the floating remote signalling contact and the fault-proof protection module coding – have also been adopted in the DEHNguard MP. For example, protection modules can be replaced easily and without tools when necessary using the module release button of the protection modules.
Furthermore, the DEHNguard MP is also certified by VDE and KEMA.
